Even though we might have imperfect earthly parents, we have a Father in heaven who will always love us. Here are 5 scriptures to remind you of the Father’s perfect love.
“God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Romans 5:8I
Jesus CHOSE to die for YOU! Isn’t that amazing? Think about it… As Jesus was on the cross, He looked into the future and saw every sin you would commit, every time you broke His heart and He still CHOSE to die for you. He took what wasn’t His, punishment for your sins, and gave you what was rightfully His, righteousness. What an amazing love.
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails…”
1 Corinthians 13:4-7
These are often the verses we go to when we need to be reminded how to love others, but do you realize that this is how the Father loves us? He’s patient and kind with us and keeps no record of our wrongs (wow!). But look at this, 1 John 4:8 says that God is Love so if we substitute the word Love with God what do we get?
God is patient, God is kind. He does not envy, He does not boast, He is not proud. He is not rude, He is not self-seeking, He is not easily angered, He keeps no record of wrongs. God does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. He always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. God never fails.
What a wonderful glimpse of who God the Father really is and His perfect love for us.
“Give thanks to the God of heaven, for his steadfast love endures forever.”
Psalm 136:26
He’s never going to stop loving us. This entire Psalm proclaims that God’s love endures forever… forever… it never ends. But how can it? God is Love, remember? If God is eternal, and God is love, then, of course, His love endures forever.
“No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Romans 8:37-39
You can be encouraged by the fact that there is nothing you could ever do to make God stop loving you. His love for you is not dependent on what you do, He does not love you less when you make a mistake or love you more when you ”perform” well.
He just loves you. When you do make a mistake He’s right there ready to help you become more than a conqueror in that area that challenges you.
“Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”
Isaiah 41:10
This verse doesn’t even have the word love but it’s one of my all-time favorite verses. Isn’t it good to know that when you are fearful, that your God is right there with you? That when you need strength, the Great and Mighty God of the Universe is ready and waiting to help you? That He upholds and supports us with His Righteous Right hand.
You can rest assured that God the Father loves you no matter what. If you’re still struggling to accept His perfect unconditional love, may I suggest that you meditate on one or more of these scriptures? Ask God to show you in a tangible way, how much He loves you.
