Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.
Psalm 139:16 ESV
One morning, during my quiet time with God, I read Psalm 139:16 for what must have been the 100th time. And suddenly it hit me.
There is a book in heaven about me. When God created me, He wrote down everything I was created to do in a book in heaven long before I had lived even one day on this earth. This is what He sees when He looks at me. Not who I am in the present moment, but always who He created me to be.
I don’t know about you but I want to know ALL that is in that book about me. What does God see when He looks at you? Who did He create you to be? What did He create you to do? How can you partner with Him to bring what’s in that book to life here on earth, as it is already written in heaven?
Sometimes our perception of ourselves is based on what others have told us. But we are not who others say we are, we’re not even who we say we are. We are who God says we are.
When He created you, Father God decided who you would become and what you would do. That is your true identity and your God-given purpose. He’s given you a unique purpose, crafted especially for you. And every gift and talent that God has given to you is meant to help you fulfill that purpose. In His book in heaven, He wrote down His good plans for you. Plans to prosper you and bring you to an expected end.
What does God see when He looks at you? Ask Him to tell you.
PRAYER: Father, when you created me you also created a plan for my life and wrote it in your book. I understand that book is a reflection of my true identity and true purpose. It is the unique purpose that only I can fulfill on this earth. When you look at me, you see someone who is capable of fulfilling that purpose. Show me what’s written in my book and the good plans that you have for me. Help me to see myself through your eyes.
