“Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you.”
Luke 10:19 ESV
Spiritual Warfare is real but Luke 10:19 tell us that Jesus has given us authority over ALL the power of the enemy. When we say or declare something in the “Name of Jesus” we are just like Joseph, Daniel, and Esther (and Mordecai) who were made second in command in the country they were living in.
Joseph was second in command to Pharaoh, Daniel was second in command over the province of Babylon and after Haman’s diabolical plans were exposed, Esther and Mordecai made second in command to the King of Persia. He gave them his ring and when they declared a law with the seal of that ring, it was as if the king himself had done it.
And so it is when we say “in Jesus’ Name”. It’s the same as if Jesus Himself was saying it. He has given us the authority to act on His behalf here on earth. We are His second in command. As we partner with Him to carry out our God-given assignments, we are to use this authority to bring light to the darkness, change atmospheres, and break chains off the captives from the enemy.
In Jesus’ Name is not just something we say by habit at the end of a prayer. It carries with it extreme power and authority. May we understand the true power of His Name.
Prayer: Jesus, Your Name is the Name above all names and all power and authority belong to You. You have given me authority over ALL the power of the enemy. Help me to understand the fullness of this authority and teach me how to use it to route every attack of the enemy.
